When labor begins, we come to you.
HOMEBIRTH & WATER BIRTH
No car ride, no unfamiliar room. Once active labor is established, our team of three trained birth professionals arrives with everything needed to care for you and your baby safely at home. We stay for several hours after birth, then quietly leave you to enjoy those first precious moments together.
Water birth is always an option, with a birth pool provided.
Birth is only the beginning.
We encourage a slow, restorative postpartum: about a week resting in bed, then another close to home, while your family gathers around you. Having a hospital birth? We can still provide prenatal, postpartum and newborn care. Reach out for more information.

10–14 unhurried prenatal visits in our Erie studio: every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then weekly. A home visit in the third trimester with your birth team. Lab work is not included in the package, but can be drawn in-house or sent to Labcorp. Ultrasounds are referred out to trusted local providers. Nutrition and supplement guidance, education, trusted referrals, prayer and encouragement. Spouses, children and grandparents are always welcome.

24/7 on-call availability from 37 to 42 weeks. A team of three at every birth: your midwife, a second midwife or skilled midwifery student, and a third set of hands. A birth pool for your water birth, brought to you. Oxygen, emergency medications and safety equipment, plus medical supplies for birth. A qualified backup midwife at no extra cost, if ever needed.

A head-to-toe newborn exam, plus newborn blood spot, heart and hearing screenings. Four postpartum visits: at home, virtual and in the studio. Breastfeeding support, maternal recovery checks and birth certificate processing.

As a small, independent practice, Brave Arrows Midwifery isn't able to bill Medicaid or private insurance directly. Instead, we partner with a trusted third-party insurance biller who works with your plan on your behalf to seek reimbursement for your care. We'll connect you with her at the start of care so you know your options early. Reimbursement depends on your plan's maternity coverage. Health shares and HSA/FSA cards are always welcome.

Lab work is not included in the package; it can be drawn in-house or sent to Labcorp. Ultrasounds, including your 20-week anatomy scan, are referred out to trusted local providers, and you're welcome to use your insurance for them. Newborn vitamin K and eye ointment are purchased separately, if you choose them. Your birth kit is purchased separately, and we'll send you the list at 32 weeks.
