Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Midwife?

Midwives are trained birth professionals who have completed either a course through midwifery or the PEP process with a national test called the NARM. They have passed and satisfied all of their clinical hours and requirements. CPM are Certified Professional Midwives and in the state of CO they are legally allowed to attend homebirths and work at birth centers.

How much does Homebirth cost?

The total fee is $6700. Most insurances do not cover homebirth; however, we are able to provide a global bill that you are able to submit to your insurance. We also work with an insurance biller who can help you navigate the ins and outs of your insurance. This total cost includes prenatal, birth, and postpartum care for you and for baby. If you have a cost saving health share they often cover homebirth- make sure to check with your insurance.

Our non-refundable deposit of $500 is due at your initial visit, after that the total fee is due by 34 weeks.

What if there is an emergency?

Homebirth midwives come trained and prepared for birth and obstetric emergencies. We are NRP certified, as well as CPR certified. We bring all our own equipment and supplies. We run skill drills often to keep our skills sharp and have good working relationships with the providers in the area should we need support for a transfer.
